Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Area rash
  2. blindness
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. blurred vision
  5. change in consciousness
  6. chest tightness
  7. chills
  8. clay-colored stools
  9. cold sweats
  10. confusion
  11. dark urine
  12. decreased urine output
  13. decreased vision
  14. difficulty with swallowing
  15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  16. eye pain
  17. fainting
  18. fast or irregular heartbeat
  19. general tiredness or weakness
  20. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  21. hives, itching, puffiness, or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  22. increased thirst
  23. joint or muscle pain
  24. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  25. light-colored stools
  26. loss of consciousness
  27. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  28. red, irritated eyes
  29. redness of the skin
  30. seizures
  31. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  32. stomach pain
  33. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  34. tearing
  35. unpleasant breath odor
  36. upper right stomach pain
  37. vomiting of blood
  38. yellow eyes and skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation
  2. diarrhea
  3. fever
  4. loss of bladder control
  5. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  6. overactive reflexes
  7. poor coordination
  8. restlessness
  9. shivering
  10. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  11. sudden loss of consciousness
  12. sweating
  13. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  14. trembling or shaking
  15. twitching
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. cough
  3. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  4. dry mouth
  5. ear congestion
  6. frequent urination
  7. headache
  8. lack or loss of strength
  9. loss of appetite
  10. loss of voice
  11. muscle aches
  12. nausea
  13. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  14. sneezing
  15. sore throat
  16. stuffy or runny nose
  17. sweating increased
  18. trouble sleeping
  19. weight loss

Less common

  1. Abnormal ejaculation
  2. abnormal orgasm
  3. acid or sour stomach
  4. belching
  5. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  6. change in taste
  7. change or problem with discharge of semen
  8. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  9. difficulty with moving
  10. feeling of warmth or redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  11. heartburn
  12. inability to have or keep an erection
  13. indigestion
  14. longer than usual time to ejaculation of semen
  15. loose stools
  16. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  17. loss of taste
  18. muscle cramps, pains, or stiffness
  19. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  20. stomach discomfort or upset
  21. sudden sweating
  22. swollen joints
  23. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
