Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. chest pain
  4. chills
  5. confusion
  6. cough
  7. dizziness or lightheadedness
  8. dry mouth
  9. fainting
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. fever
  12. irregular heartbeat
  13. irritability
  14. loss of taste
  15. lower back or side pain
  16. mood or mental changes
  17. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  18. muscle weakness
  19. nervousness
  20. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  21. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  22. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  23. painful or difficult urination
  24. pale skin
  25. peeling and loosening of the skin
  26. restlessness
  27. seizures
  28. severe, sudden headache
  29. skin rash
  30. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  31. slurred speech
  32. sore throat
  33. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  34. stomach cramps
  35. sudden, unexplained shortness of breath
  36. sudden loss of coordination
  37. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  38. swollen glands
  39. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area
  40. tingling, burning, numbness, or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  41. trembling or shaking of hands or feet
  42. trouble sleeping
  43. trouble breathing
  44. unusual bleeding or bruising
  45. unusual tiredness or weakness
  46. vision changes

Rare

  1. Blood in the urine
  2. decreased urination
  3. difficulty in moving
  4. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  5. muscle aches, cramps, pains, or stiffness
  6. swollen joints

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. blood in the stools
  4. diarrhea
  5. difficulty with speaking
  6. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  7. inability to speak
  8. itching skin
  9. joint or muscle pain
  10. muscle jerking of the arms and legs
  11. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  12. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  13. red, irritated eyes
  14. slow speech
  15. sudden loss of consciousness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. dry skin
  3. dizziness
  4. drowsiness
  5. loss of appetite
  6. nausea
  7. stomach pain
  8. weight changes

Less common

  1. Blemishes on the skin
  2. headache
  3. increased appetite
  4. loss or thinning of the hair
  5. pimples

Incidence not known

  1. Double vision
  2. seeing double
  3. uncontrolled eye movements
