Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Breast pain
  2. change in vaginal discharge
  3. cough or hoarseness
  4. fever or chills
  5. increased clear or white vaginal discharge
  6. itching of the vagina or genital area
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. pain during sexual intercourse
  9. pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis
  10. painful or difficult urination
  11. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  12. vaginal bleeding

Less common

  1. Feeling faint, dizzy, or lightheaded
  2. feeling of warmth or heat
  3. flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
  4. headache
  5. sweating

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach bloating
  2. abnormal uterine bleeding or spotting
  3. acne
  4. anxiety
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. breast tenderness, enlargement, pain, or discharge
  7. chest pain or discomfort
  8. decreased vision or other changes in vision
  9. difficulty with swallowing
  10. enlargement of the penis or testes
  11. fast heartbeat
  12. frequent urge to urinate
  13. growth of pubic hair
  14. hives
  15. itching
  16. itching of the vagina or outside genitals
  17. nausea
  18. pain during sexual intercourse
  19. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  20. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  21. rapid increase in height
  22. shortness of breath
  23. stomach pain
  24. sudden shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  25. sweating
  26. tightness in the chest
  27. unusual tiredness or weakness
  28. vomiting
  29. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. back pain
  3. diarrhea
  4. headache
  5. lack or loss of strength

Less common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. congestion
  3. increased dryness or soreness of the throat
  4. runny nose
  5. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  6. trouble with swallowing
  7. voice changes

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. changes in weight
  3. decreased or increased interest in sexual intercourse
  4. depression
  5. difficulty with moving
  6. headache, severe and throbbing
  7. heavy bleeding
  8. inability to have or keep an erection
  9. increased hair growth, especially on the face
  10. irritability
  11. itching of the vagina or genitals
  12. leg cramps
  13. loss of scalp hair
  14. loss or increase in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  15. mood changes
  16. muscle pain or stiffness
  17. nervousness
  18. pain
  19. pain in the joints
  20. patchy brown or dark brown discoloration of the skin
  21. poor insight and judgment
  22. problems with memory or speech
  23. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  24. trouble recognizing objects
  25. trouble thinking and planning
  26. weakness
