Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

1. Black, tarry stools
2. chest pain
3. chills
4. cough
5. fever
6. painful or difficult urination
7. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
8. suicidal thoughts
9. unusual bleeding or bruising
10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

1. Ankle, knee, or great toe joint pain
2. arm, back, or jaw pain
3. back or side pain
4. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
5. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
6. change in walking and balance
7. changes in skin color, pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
8. changes in urination
9. chest tightness or heaviness
10. cold, clammy, or pale skin
11. cough
12. darkening of the skin
13. diarrhea, watery and severe, which may also be bloody
14. difficulty with breathing, chewing, swallowing, or talking
15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
16. fainting
17. fast, slow, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
18. flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
19. headache, severe and throbbing
20. hoarseness
21. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
22. indigestion
23. irregular heartbeat
24. itching skin
25. joint or muscle pain
26. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
27. light-colored stools
28. loss of ability to use or understand speech or language
29. mood or mental changes
30. muscle spasm or jerking of the legs or arms
31. nausea
32. numbness of the hands
33. pain in the ankles or knees
34. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
35. pounding in the ears
36. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
37. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
38. red, irritated eyes
39. seizures
40. severe constipation
41. severe sunburn
42. severe vomiting
43. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
44. small red or purple spots on the skin
45. stomach cramps or pain
46. trouble concentrating
47. trouble sleeping
48. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
49. vomiting
50. vomiting of blood
51. white patches in the mouth or on the tongue
52. yellow eyes and skin

Incidence not known

1. Bone pain
2. confusion as to time, place, or person
3. excessive muscle tone
4. increased sensitivity to pain or touch
5. rhythmic movement of muscles
6. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
7. swelling of the joints

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
2. runny nose
3. sneezing

Rare

1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
2. eye pain
3. hearing loss
4. loss of sense of smell
5. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
