Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. cough or hoarseness
  7. diarrhea
  8. fever
  9. headache
  10. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  11. lack or loss of strength
  12. lower back, side, or stomach pain
  13. muscle aches
  14. nausea
  15. painful or difficult urination
  16. pale skin
  17. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  18. sore throat
  19. stuffy or runny nose
  20. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  21. swollen glands
  22. trouble breathing
  23. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  24. unusual bleeding or bruising
  25. unusual tiredness or weakness
  26. vomiting

Less common

  1. Burning or stinging of the skin
  2. chest tightness
  3. fast heartbeat
  4. hives, itching, or rash
  5. irritation
  6. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  7. redness of the skin
  8. stiffness or swelling
  9. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  10. trouble swallowing

Incidence not known

  1. Back pain
  2. blistering, flaking, or peeling of the skin
  3. bluish color
  4. blurred vision
  5. changes in skin color
  6. confusion
  7. dizziness
  8. drowsiness
  9. pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
  10. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  11. persistent non-healing sore
  12. pink growth
  13. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  14. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  15. red, irritated eyes
  16. reddish patch or irritated area
  17. seizures
  18. shiny bump
  19. sweating
  20. thickening of bronchial secretions
  21. weakness
  22. white, yellow, or waxy scar-like area

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
