Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. blurred vision
  3. dry mouth
  4. flushed, dry skin
  5. fruit-like breath odor
  6. inability to move the eyes
  7. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  8. increased hunger
  9. increased thirst
  10. increased urination
  11. nausea
  12. sticking out of the tongue
  13. sweating
  14. trouble breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  15. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  16. unexplained weight loss
  17. unusual facial expressions
  18. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chest pain
  3. chills
  4. cold sweats
  5. confusion
  6. convulsions
  7. cough or hoarseness
  8. difficulty in moving
  9. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from lying or sitting position
  10. fainting
  11. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  12. fever with or without chills
  13. high fever
  14. high or low blood pressure
  15. hives, itching, skin rash
  16. joint pain
  17. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  18. lip smacking or puckering
  19. loss of bladder control
  20. lower back or side pain
  21. muscle aching or cramping
  22. muscle pains or stiffness
  23. painful or difficult urination
  24. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  25. rapid or worm-like movements of the tongue
  26. severe muscle stiffness
  27. sore throat
  28. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  29. swollen glands
  30. swollen joints
  31. tightness in the chest
  32. tiredness
  33. uncontrolled chewing movements
  34. uncontrolled movements of the arms and legs
  35. unusual bleeding or bruising
  36. unusual tiredness or weakness
  37. unusually pale skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. difficulty in speaking
  3. drooling
  4. loss of balance control
  5. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  6. redness, itching, or swelling of the skin where the patch is applied
  7. restlessness
  8. shuffling walk
  9. stiffness of the limbs

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. diarrhea
  4. heartburn
  5. increased appetite
  6. indigestion
  7. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  8. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  9. stuffy or runny nose

Incidence not known

  1. Dry mouth
  2. lack or loss of strength
  3. swelling of breasts or unusual milk production
