Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

1. Arm, back, or jaw pain
2. black, tarry stools
3. bleeding gums
4. blood in the urine or stools
5. blurred vision
6. chest pain, discomfort, tightness, or heaviness
7. cloudy urine
8. cough
9. cough producing mucus
10. cracked, dry, scaly skin
11. diarrhea
12. difficult, burning, or painful urination
13. difficulty in swallowing
14. dizziness
15. fainting
16. fast or irregular breathing
17. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
18. fever
19. frequent urge to urinate
20. headache, severe and throbbing
21. heartburn
22. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
23. itching, skin rash
24. joint or muscle pain or stiffness
25. loss of appetite
26. loss of consciousness
27. nausea
28. nervousness
29. noisy breathing
30. nosebleed
31. pain in the lower back
32. pain or burning in the throat
33. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
34. pale skin
35. pinpoint red spots on the skin
36. pounding in the ears
37. redness or other discoloration of the skin
38. severe sunburn
39. slow heartbeat
40. sneezing
41. sore throat
42. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth
43. stomach pain or tenderness
44. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
45. swelling of the eyes, eyelids, face, arms, or legs
46. swelling, tenderness, warmth, blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
47. trouble breathing
48. unusual bleeding or bruising
49. unusual tiredness or weakness
50. vomiting

Rare

1. Anxiety
2. bloody nose
3. bloating
4. changes in skin color, pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
5. chills
6. cold, pale or a bluish skin color of the fingers or toes
7. confusion
8. constipation
9. darkened urine
10. decreased frequency or amount of urine
11. dilated neck veins
12. dry mouth
13. flushed, dry skin
14. fruit-like breath odor
15. gaseous stomach pain
16. increased blood pressure
17. increased hunger
18. increased thirst
19. increased urination
20. indigestion
21. irregular breathing
22. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
23. numbness and tingling of the face, fingers, or toes
24. pain in the arms, legs, or lower back, especially in the calves or heels upon exertion
25. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
26. rapid, shallow breathing
27. recurrent fever
28. severe constipation
29. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
30. sores, welts, or blisters
31. stomach fullness
32. swollen glands
33. unexplained weight loss
34. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing
35. weak or absent pulses in the legs
36. weight gain
37. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

1. Clay-colored stools
2. cold sweats
3. muscle pain or cramps
4. nightmares
5. seizures
6. shakiness
7. slurred speech
8. stiff neck or back
9. unpleasant breath odor
10. upper right abdominal or stomach pain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Belching
2. body aches or pain
3. ear congestion
4. loss of voice
5. runny or stuffy nose

Less common

1. Bleeding after defecation
2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
3. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
4. difficulty in moving
5. dryness of the throat
6. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
7. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
8. frequent urge to defecate
9. full feeling
10. hearing loss
11. hoarseness
12. leg cramps
13. loss or thinning of the hair
14. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
15. passing gas
16. sensation of spinning
17. straining while passing stool
18. stuffy nose
19. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
20. trouble sleeping
21. uncomfortable swelling around the anus
22. voice changes

Rare

1. Abnormal ejaculation
2. burning, dry, or itching eyes
3. decreased sexual performance or desire
4. discharge, excessive tearing
5. double vision
6. eye pain
7. feeling unusually cold
8. lack or loss of strength
9. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
10. seeing double
11. shivering
12. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
13. unsteady walk

Incidence not known

1. Loss of sense of smell or taste
2. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
