Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Changes in weight
  2. dark or bloody urine
  3. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  4. fever
  5. increased blood pressure
  6. increased thirst
  7. itching skin
  8. light-colored stools
  9. loss of appetite
  10. lower back or side pain
  11. nausea
  12. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  13. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
  14. trouble breathing
  15. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  18. vomiting
  19. yellow eyes and skin

Rare

  1. Rash

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  5. chest tightness
  6. chills
  7. confusion
  8. cough
  9. decreased appetite
  10. diarrhea
  11. difficulty with moving
  12. difficulty with swallowing
  13. discharge or excessive tearing
  14. dizziness
  15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  16. fainting
  17. fast heartbeat
  18. fast, shallow breathing
  19. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  20. headache
  21. hives
  22. joint or muscle pain
  23. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  24. muscle pain, cramping, or stiffness
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. rapid, shallow breathing
  27. red, irritated eyes
  28. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  29. sleepiness
  30. sore throat
  31. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  32. stomach pain, continuing
  33. sweating
  34. swelling or puffiness of the face
  35. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. discouragement
  3. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  4. feeling sad or empty
  5. full or bloated feeling
  6. heartburn
  7. indigestion
  8. irritability
  9. loss of interest or pleasure
  10. passing gas
  11. pressure in the stomach
  12. swelling of the stomach area
  13. thoughts or attempts of killing oneself
  14. trouble concentrating
  15. trouble sleeping

Rare

  1. Abnormal dreams

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. loss or thinning of the hair
  3. weight gain around your neck, upper back, breast, or waist
