Tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) research is conducted in coordination with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the National Cancer Institute and is designated as a comprehensive cancer center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multidisciplinary resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Mayo Clinic researchers are studying:

  • Targeted medicine for TGCT when surgery is not an option, including studies of vimseltinib and pexidartinib.
  • Pathology and molecular methods that may help diagnose and classify TGCT, including CSF1 testing.
  • How diffuse TGCT changes over time and outcomes with monitoring instead of immediate treatment.
  • MRI-guided focused ultrasound for selected recurrent TGCT.
