على مدار أعوام عديدة، ظل أطباء مايو كلينك روادًا في إجراء جراحات صمامات القلب، مثل ترميم الصمام التاجي وترميم الصمام الأورطي. ويدرس الباحثون في مايو كلينك سُبُلاً جديدة لترميم صمامات القلب أو استبدالها باستخدام إجراءات القسطرة وجراحة القلب طفيفة التوغل وغيرها من الطرق الجراحية.

تشمل مجالات البحث ما يلي:

  • تطوير الصمامات الحيوية المصنوعة من أنسجة بشرية واستخدامها في عمليات استبدال صمامات القلب.
  • عمليات القلب طفيفة التوغل وجراحة القلب الروبوتية لترميم صمامات القلب أو استبدالها.
  • الطباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد لنماذج القلب والصمامات التي تساعد الجرّاحين في الاستعداد لجراحات صمامات القلب.
  • استخدام مميعات الدم مع الأشخاص الذين لديهم صمامات حيوية ونسيجية ميكانيكية.
  • الخصائص الوراثية لأمراض الصمامات القلبية.
