يعكف أطباء مايو كلينك وعلماؤها على دراسة طرق جديدة لتشخيص مشاكل الاتزان وعلاجها. تشمل الجهود المخصصة تطوير الاختبارات السريرية التي تساعد في تقييم وظيفة عناصر معينة داخل الجهاز الدهليزي، وإيجاد الروابط بين أنماط الشخصية، وجينات وراثية معينة ومخاطر الإصابة بالدوار المزمن.

ويضم برنامج اضطرابات الدوار والتوازن في مايو كلينك بمدينة روتشستر في ولاية مينيسوتا، فريقًا متعدد التخصصات، ويعمل هذا الفريق على البحث في مجموعة من الحالات المرَضية التي تؤثر على التوازن. يستقصي مختبر الطب الفضائي ومختبر أبحاث الجهاز الدهليزي ويطور استراتيجيات معينة لتعزيز صحة الإنسان وأدائه في بيئة الفضاء، وتشمل التخفيف من آثار الدوار الناجم عن الحركة والمحاكاة.
