Biographical summary
Purna Chandra Kashyap, MBBS, is Professor of Medicine and Physiology and the Bernard and Edith Waterman Director of the Microbiome Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He provides specialized care for patients with complex gastrointestinal disorders, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans. His clinical expertise focuses on disorders of gut–brain interaction, gastrointestinal motility disorders, and conditions in which alterations of the gut microbiome contribute to symptoms and disease.

Dr. Kashyap is an internationally recognized physician-scientist whose research focuses on understanding how gut microorganisms and the molecules they produce influence gastrointestinal physiology, the gut–brain axis, and human disease. His laboratory integrates clinical studies with advanced multi-omics technologies and mechanistic models to uncover new therapeutic targets and develop precision microbiome-based treatments for gastrointestinal disorders.
