Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. blurry vision
  3. constipation
  4. dry mouth and skin
  5. faintness
  6. fatigue
  7. fruit-like breath odor
  8. increased hunger or thirst
  9. increased need to urinate
  10. nausea
  11. skin paleness
  12. skin rash
  13. sweating
  14. troubled breathing
  15. unexplained weight loss
  16. unusual bleeding or bruising
  17. vomiting

Less common

  1. Bloating
  2. chest pain
  3. confusion
  4. cough
  5. darkened urine
  6. difficulty in breathing or swallowing
  7. dizziness
  8. fast heartbeat
  9. fever or chills
  10. headache
  11. hives or itching
  12. indigestion
  13. itching, especially of hands and feet
  14. loss of appetite
  15. numbness, tingling, or swelling in arms or legs
  16. pains in stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  17. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue
  18. reddening of the skin, especially around ears
  19. shortness of breath
  20. swelling of eyes, face, or inside of nose
  21. tightness in chest
  22. unusual tiredness or weakness (sudden and severe)
  23. wheezing
  24. yellow eyes or skin


  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in urine
  3. hoarseness
  4. lower back or side pain
  5. painful or difficult urination
  6. pinpoint red spots on skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
