Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. confusion
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  5. fainting
  6. irregular heartbeats that continue
  7. shortness of breath
  8. sweating
  9. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at injection site
  2. extra heartbeats
  3. nervousness
  4. pain in the shoulders, arms, jaw or neck
  5. pounding in the ears
  6. slow or fast heartbeat

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of Overdose

  1. Bluish color of fingernails, lips, skin, palms, or nail beds
  2. collapse
  3. gasping to breathe
  4. paleness of skin
  5. seizures

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. headache

Less common

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. acid or sour stomach
  3. belching
  4. bloated full feeling
  5. blood in urine
  6. bloody or black, tarry stools
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles" , or tingling feelings
  8. change in vision
  9. chills
  10. continuing ringing or buzzing
  11. cough
  12. decrease in frequency of urination
  13. decrease in urine volume
  14. deep breathing
  15. diarrhea
  16. difficult breathing
  17. difficulty in passing urine
  18. drowsiness
  19. dry mouth
  20. excess air or gas in stomach or intestines
  21. excessive sleeping
  22. eye irritation
  23. fear
  24. feeling happy
  25. feeling of warmth
  26. fever
  27. flushed dry skin
  28. fruit-like breath odor
  29. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  30. hearing loss
  31. heartburn
  32. hiccups
  33. impaired vision
  34. increased hunger
  35. increased thirst
  36. increased urination
  37. indigestion
  38. joint pain
  39. large, flat, blue or purplish patches in the skin
  40. loss of appetite
  41. muscle aches and pains
  42. muscle tremors
  43. numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips
  44. painful knees and ankles
  45. painful urination
  46. passing gas
  47. raised red swellings on the skin, the buttocks, legs or ankles
  48. rash
  49. red, sore eyes
  50. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  51. restlessness
  52. runny nose
  53. shivering
  54. sore throat
  55. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  56. sugar in the urine
  57. swelling or protruding veins
  58. trembling
  59. troubled breathing
  60. trouble sleeping
  61. unexplained noise in ears
  62. unexplained weight loss
  63. unusually deep sleep
  64. unusually long duration of sleep
  65. vein discoloration
  66. weakness or heaviness of legs
