Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. cough or hoarseness accompanied by chills or fever, lower back or side pain, or painful or difficult urination
  4. fainting
  5. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  6. pounding heartbeat
  7. severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting
  8. skin rash
  9. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  10. unusual bleeding or bruising

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest pain or tightness
  5. chills
  6. coma
  7. confusion
  8. cough
  9. dark-colored urine
  10. decreased frequency of urine
  11. decreased urine output
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficulty swallowing
  14. dizziness
  15. dry mouth
  16. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  17. fever
  18. hives, itching skin, rash
  19. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  20. increased thirst
  21. irritability
  22. joint or muscle pain
  23. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  24. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  25. light-colored stools
  26. loss of appetite
  27. lower back or side pain
  28. muscle cramps, pain, spasms, stiffness, or twitching
  29. nausea or vomiting
  30. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  31. painful knees and ankles
  32. persistent non-healing sore
  33. pink growth
  34. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  35. raised red swellings on the skin, the buttocks, legs, or ankles
  36. red, irritated eyes
  37. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  38. reddish patch or irritated area
  39. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  40. restlessness
  41. seizures
  42. severe sunburn
  43. shiny bump
  44. sore throat
  45. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  46. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  47. trouble breathing
  48. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  49. unusual tiredness or weakness
  50. weak or irregular heartbeat
  51. weight gain
  52. white, yellow or waxy scar-like area
  53. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. headache
  3. loss of voice
  4. sneezing
  5. sore throat
  6. stuffy or runny nose

Rare

  1. Dry cough

Incidence not known

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. change or loss of taste
  4. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  5. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  6. heartburn
  7. inability to have or keep an erection
  8. indigestion
  9. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  10. trouble sleeping
  11. weight loss

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
