Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding problems
  2. fever
  3. high blood pressure
  4. joint or muscle pain and/or stiffness

Less common or rare

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, hands, lower legs, and/or feet
  2. bluish color of the hands or feet
  3. blurred vision
  4. changes in facial color
  5. chest pain
  6. chills
  7. cold sweats
  8. confusion
  9. continuing thirst
  10. cough
  11. dizziness
  12. excessive sweating
  13. faintness
  14. fast heartbeat
  15. hives and/or itching
  16. large flat blue or purplish patches on the skin
  17. lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  18. persistent bleeding or oozing from puncture sites or mucous membranes (bowel, mouth, nose, or urinary bladder)
  19. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes
  20. shakiness
  21. shortness of breath
  22. skin rash
  23. slow or irregular heartbeat (less than 50 beats per minute)
  24. slurred speech
  25. sneezing
  26. sore throat
  27. sudden decrease in the amount of urine
  28. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, and/or lower legs
  29. troubled breathing, tightness in the chest, and/or wheezing
  30. unusual tiredness or weakness
  31. weight gain (unusual)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common or rare

  1. Burning or stinging at the injection site
  2. changes in the blood pressure or pulse rate
  3. drowsiness
  4. flushing (redness of the face)
  5. headache
  6. nausea or vomiting
  7. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
