Patients with heart failure have diseases of their heart, their vessels, and their kidneys that interact in a very complex fashion to produce the disease that they have. I like that complexity. That's what really keeps me interested. I'm Dr. Maggy Redfield. I'm a Heart Failure Cardiologist here at the Mayo Clinic.

Many times, the patients I see, it hasn't been recognized that they have indeed heart failure causing their symptoms. I am able to offer the special diagnostic techniques that we have here at Mayo to figure this out. Just an explanation for their symptoms is often so important to patients.

I see things almost every day that many cardiologists may see once in a lifetime, rare diseases like cardiac amyloidosis, radiation induced heart disease, certain genetic abnormalities. We're able to offer patients a wealth of experience that you can only get by seeing these conditions over and over again.
