Descriptions

Alirocumab injection is used together with a proper diet and other medicines (eg, ezetimibe, statin medicine) to treat patients with primary hyperlipidemia (including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia) or with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH), who need additional lowering of their bad cholesterol (LDL). It is also used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and unstable angina (chest pain) requiring hospitalization in adults with existing heart or blood vessel disease. This medicine is a PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin kexin type 9) inhibitor.
