1. A Registry for the Collection and Maintenance of Biological Specimens for Breast Cancer Research

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this registry is to collect and maintain samples of breast tissue from women and men undergoing surgery for a breast related concern at Mayo Clinic Rochester,  to create a biospecimen resource for the study of benign and cancerous breast conditions.

2. A Study to Explore if it is Possible to Successfully Obtain Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Imaging and Data While Patients Undergo Brain Surgery

   Jacksonville, Fla.

   The goal of this study is to investigate the feasibility of successfully obtaining intra-operative OCT imaging and data during standard brain surgery.

3. A Study to Establish a Living Breast Organoid Biobank for Translational Research

   Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   Researchers at Mayo Clinic are developing a Biobank of adult stem cell-rich breast organoids, a new research resource to facilitate normal and cancer stem cell research. Subjects in the Biobank will provide samples of excess breast tissue, complete a health questionnaire, and allow access to medical records now and in the future. The Biobank serves as a library for researchers; instead of having to look for volunteers for each new project, researchers can use samples from the Biobank as well as share information already collected.

4. A Study to Compare 3- and 4-Part Proximal Humerus Fractures Undergoing Elected Nonoperative vs. Operative Management

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to compare validated clinical and functional outcomes between patients who acutely present with 3- and 4-part Proximal Humerus Fractures (PHFs) treated nonoperatively or with rTSA. We hypothesize that in displaced 3- and 4-part proximal humerus fractures, rTSA will have better pain relief and functional outcomes than nonoperative treatment.

    

5. Multi-Center Prospective Validation Study of VTE Risk Prediction Tool in Trauma Patients

   Rochester, Minn.

   Almost one-half million people suffer venous thromboembolism annually in the United States, and one-third die from this disease. Massive bleeding from injury accounts for half of early deaths after trauma. This study aims to prevent the deaths and suffering associated with venous thromboembolism and bleeding by identifying the individual person at high risk of these complications in order to take preventive measures.

6. A Study of the Possible Use of a New Imaging Method with Glioma Tumors

   Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The purpose of this study is to see if Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) a recently developed imaging technique can be used to characterize and help stage glioma tumors and evaluate response to therapy.

7. Study of Gastric Cancer and Limited Peritoneal Metastasis Using Robotic Cytoreduction and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to assess short-term morbidity and disease-free survival outcomes for patients with gastric adenocarcinoma with limited low volume peritoneal metastasis and/or positive peritoneal cytology undergoing robotic cytoreduction and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

8. A Study to Evaluate Biomarker Target Stimulation

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to understand how electrical stimulation of the brain can modulate and suppress interictal epileptiform activity as a step on the path to developing new therapies for epilepsy.

9. A Study of Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) Adherence and Vessel Wall Penetration Following Intra-arterial Delivery Subsequent to Controlled Balloon Angioplasty

   Jacksonville, Fla.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of MSCs that adhere to predetermined areas of arterial wall following balloon angioplasty vs no intervention, and to characterize the effect of intra-arterial injection of MSCs on predetermined areas of arterial wall via transcriptome analysis.

10. A Study to Assess Sinus Stenting to Manage Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak

    Rochester, Minn.

    The purpose of this study is to determine whether transverse/sigmoid sinus junction stenting reduces the risk of recurrent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension presenting with CSF leak.
