Research

Mayo Clinic radiologists and other healthcare professionals study how to use PET scans to find diseases early and plan treatment. In 2012, Mayo Clinic received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to make and give choline C-11 injections. Choline C-11 is an imaging agent used during positron emission tomography (PET) scans to help find prostate cancer that has come back, also called recurrent prostate cancer. Mayo Clinic was the first FDA-approved facility to produce choline C-11.
