Team approach

Mayo Clinic radiologists collaborate as part of your healthcare team to help develop the most appropriate treatment plan for you based on your needs.

Radiologists may work with specialists in neurology, neurosurgery and other areas to plan and coordinate your care. When a brain tumor is involved, the team also may include specialists from oncology or Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Children and babies receive care from healthcare professionals with training in pediatric and newborn conditions.

Expertise

Mayo Clinic has one of the largest radiology practices in the world, with nearly 400 radiologists and 30 physicists across its campuses in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota, as well as the Mayo Clinic Health System. Mayo doctors and scientists are leaders in innovation, including the development of magnetic resonance elastography and other technologies and practice improvements.

Radiologists and other imaging specialists use ultrasound to help diagnose and monitor some conditions, assess blood flow, and guide some procedures. Focused ultrasound also may be used by specialized teams to treat select brain conditions.

Mayo Clinic imaging researchers work with doctors from many specialties to expand the use of brain ultrasound. They are studying ways to treat more conditions, such as epilepsy, using focused ultrasound.
