Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bleeding gums
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. blurred vision
  5. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  6. chest pain
  7. chills
  8. cloudy urine
  9. confusion
  10. constipation
  11. cough or hoarseness
  12. coughing up blood
  13. decreased urine output
  14. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  15. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  16. dilated neck veins
  17. dizziness
  18. fainting
  19. frequent urge to urinate
  20. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  21. indigestion
  22. irregular breathing
  23. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  24. lightheadedness
  25. lower back, side, or stomach pain
  26. nervousness
  27. nosebleeds
  28. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  29. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  30. pale skin
  31. paralysis
  32. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  33. pounding in the ears
  34. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  35. rapid weight gain
  36. rapid, shallow breathing
  37. red or black, tarry stools
  38. red or dark brown urine
  39. severe headaches of sudden onset
  40. slow or fast heartbeat
  41. sore throat
  42. sudden loss of coordination
  43. sudden slurred speech
  44. sudden vision changes
  45. tingling of the hands or feet
  46. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  47. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  48. unusual bleeding or bruising
  49. unusual weight gain or loss
  50. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. chest discomfort
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. pain, redness, or swelling in the arms or legs

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  2. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  3. blue-green halos seen around objects
  4. clay-colored stools
  5. dark urine
  6. decreased appetite
  7. diarrhea
  8. dry eyes
  9. fever
  10. headache
  11. heartburn
  12. indigestion
  13. itching or skin rash
  14. joint or muscle pain
  15. loss of appetite
  16. nausea and vomiting
  17. red irritated eyes
  18. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  19. sensitivity of the eyes to light
  20. sensitivity to heat
  21. severe vomiting, sometimes with blood
  22. sore throat
  23. stomach cramps or tenderness
  24. sweating
  25. trouble sleeping
  26. unusual tiredness or weakness
  27. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuous
  28. weight loss
  29. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back or bone pain
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. cracked lips
  4. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  5. difficulty with moving
  6. dryness, itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. muscle aches, pain, or stiffness
  9. stuffy or runny nose
