Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

1. Mental depression
2. swelling of the feet and lower legs

Rare

1. Anxiety
2. blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin
3. chest pain or discomfort
4. confusion as to time, place, or person
5. decreased urine output
6. dilated neck veins
7. drowsiness
8. dry mouth
9. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
10. fever
11. general feeling of discomfort or illness
12. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
13. hyperventilation
14. irregular breathing
15. irritability
16. itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin
17. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
18. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
19. mental depression
20. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
21. pounding, slow heartbeat
22. problems in urination or increase in the amount of urine
23. raised red swellings on the skin, lips, tongue, or in the throat
24. restlessness
25. seeing or hearing things that are not there
26. shaking
27. shortness of breath
28. skin rash
29. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
30. tightness in the chest
31. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold
32. trouble with sleeping
33. troubled breathing
34. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
35. unusual tiredness or weakness
36. vivid dreams or nightmares
37. weight gain
38. wheezing

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

1. Dizziness (extreme) or faintness
2. feeling cold
3. pinpoint pupils of the eyes
4. unusual tiredness or weakness (extreme)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Constipation

Less common

1. Darkening of the skin
2. decreased sexual ability
3. dry, itching, or burning eyes
4. loss of appetite
5. nausea or vomiting

Rare

1. Blurred vision
2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
3. hair loss or thinning of the hair
4. inability to have or keep an erection
5. leg cramps
6. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
7. muscle or joint pain
8. pale skin
9. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
10. weakness

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
