Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Decreased urine
  2. dizziness
  3. drowsiness
  4. dry mouth
  5. fainting
  6. fast or irregular heartbeat
  7. increased thirst
  8. loss of appetite
  9. mood or mental changes
  10. muscle pain, cramps, or spasms
  11. nausea or vomiting
  12. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  13. seizures
  14. trembling
  15. trouble breathing
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in urine or stools
  4. change in taste
  5. cough
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty swallowing
  8. fever
  9. gaseous stomach pain
  10. hives, itching, or skin rash
  11. indigestion
  12. loss of taste
  13. nervousness
  14. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  15. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  16. severe stomach cramps and pain
  17. stomach fullness or tenderness
  18. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  19. tightness in the chest
  20. unusual bleeding or bruising
  21. watery and severe diarrhea, which may also be bloody
  22. weakness or heaviness of legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. headache
  3. redness, itching, swelling, or pain at the injection site
  4. white patches in the mouth or throat or on the tongue
  5. white patches with diaper rash

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
