Biographical summary
Andrew Storm, M.D., is the Director of Endoscopy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He leads a team of experts who specialize in developing breakthrough endoscopic treatments that help patients avoid unnecessary — and more invasive — surgeries.
Dr. Storm's research includes developing minimally invasive bariatric techniques designed to combat obesity without surgery, as well as nonsurgical approaches to treating Type 2 diabetes aimed at getting patients off insulin, leading to improved quality of life and lower cost of care. He has also helped develop techniques that can diagnose cancer and start people on their treatment the very same day, which allows them to go home sooner and without scars from surgery. Because of Dr. Storm's work, many cancers can be prevented or removed, diabetes is more manageable, and obesity can be treated without entering an operating room.
Dr. Storm is excited about all of his team's technological advancements, but his real satisfaction comes from creating a practice that makes a patient's treatment simpler, safer and more comfortable. Seeing his patients spend less time in the hospital with shorter recovery times and enjoying an improved quality of life is what motivates him to keep pushing what's possible every day. Dr. Storm's ultimate goal is to help bring advanced techniques currently available only at Mayo Clinic to the farthest corners of the world, so everyone can benefit from his team's discoveries.
