Biographical summary
Dr. Ivy Petersen is a Board certified Radiation Oncologist and Professor of Radiation Oncology who has been practicing at Mayo Clinic Rochester for over 30 years. She received her medical degree at the Medical College of Ohio and did her residency at Stanford University Medical Center.
Her clinical areas of interest include:
- gynecologic malignancies
- soft tissue and bone sarcoma
- ocular melanoma
In addition, Dr. Petersen has had a longstanding interest in education. She is involved with education of residents as well as medical students, fellows, and radiation therapists. She previously served as the Radiation Oncology Program Director for 11 years and continues to participate on the Education Committee. She serves as the Medical Advisor to the Radiation Therapy Technology Training program. She received an Education Grant from the Radiologic Society of North America which resulted in development of a communication skills course for residents as well as anatomy lab training sessions for gynecologic brachytherapy and nasopharyngoscopy. She was elected a Senior Fellow in the Academy of Educational Excellent at Mayo Clinic.
