Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. bloody urine
  4. blurred vision or other change in vision
  5. chills
  6. cough
  7. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  8. diarrhea
  9. dizziness
  10. eye pain
  11. fainting
  12. fast or irregular heartbeat
  13. fever
  14. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  15. increased thirst
  16. itching or skin rash
  17. joint or muscle pain
  18. loss of appetite
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. lump or growth on the skin
  21. nausea
  22. pain in the ankles or knees
  23. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  24. paralysis of the nerves
  25. rapid weight gain
  26. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin
  27. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  28. red, irritated eyes
  29. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  30. redness, soreness, swelling, or itching of the skin
  31. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  32. sensitivity of the eye to light
  33. severe sunburn
  34. sore throat
  35. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  36. sores, welts, or blisters
  37. tearing
  38. tingling of the hands and feet
  39. tiredness
  40. trouble breathing
  41. ulceration of the skin
  42. unusual tiredness or weakness
  43. unusual weight gain or loss
  44. vomiting
  45. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back or bone pain
  2. burning, itching, and pain in the hairy areas, or pus at the root of the hair
  3. change in taste
  4. cough
  5. decreased appetite
  6. decreased weight
  7. difficulty having a bowel movement
  8. difficulty with moving
  9. dry skin
  10. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  11. headache
  12. lack or loss of strength
  13. loss of taste
  14. muscle stiffness
  15. pain in the arms or legs
  16. sunburn
