Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Skin rash

Less common

  1. Bloating
  2. bloody or black, tarry stools
  3. burning upper abdominal or stomach pain
  4. burning while urinating
  5. cloudy urine
  6. constipation
  7. decrease in urine output or decrease in urine-concentrating ability
  8. diarrhea
  9. difficult or painful urination
  10. frequent urination
  11. headache
  12. heartburn
  13. indigestion
  14. itching skin
  15. loss of appetite
  16. nausea or vomiting
  17. pale skin
  18. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  19. severe and continuing nausea
  20. swelling
  21. trouble breathing
  22. unusual bleeding or bruising
  23. unusual tiredness or weakness
  24. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  25. weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. blurred vision
  5. body aches or pain
  6. burning feeling in chest or stomach
  7. changes in blood pressure
  8. chest pain or tightness
  9. clay-colored stools
  10. coma
  11. confusion
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. cracks in the skin
  14. dark urine
  15. depression
  16. difficult or labored breathing
  17. difficulty swallowing
  18. dilated neck veins
  19. dizziness
  20. ear congestion
  21. extreme fatigue
  22. fainting
  23. feeling of discomfort
  24. fever or chills
  25. fluid-filled skin blisters
  26. high fever
  27. hives or welts
  28. hostility
  29. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  30. increased thirst
  31. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  32. inflammation of the joints
  33. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  34. joint or muscle pain
  35. large, flat, blue or purplish patches in the skin
  36. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  37. lethargy
  38. light-colored stools
  39. lightheadedness
  40. loss of heat from the body
  41. loss of voice
  42. lower back or side pain
  43. muscle aches
  44. muscle twitching
  45. noisy breathing
  46. pain or burning in the throat
  47. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  48. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  49. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  50. pounding in the ears
  51. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  52. rapid weight gain
  53. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  54. red, irritated eyes
  55. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  56. redness, swelling, or soreness of tongue
  57. scaly skin
  58. seizures
  59. severe sunburn
  60. skin thinness
  61. slow, fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  62. sneezing
  63. sore throat
  64. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth
  65. stuffy or runny nose
  66. stupor
  67. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  68. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  69. swollen lymph glands
  70. tenderness in the stomach area
  71. unpleasant breath odor
  72. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  73. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. stomach discomfort

Less common

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  2. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  3. hearing loss
  4. passing gas
  5. relaxed and calm
  6. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  7. trouble sleeping

Rare

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  3. change in taste
  4. decreased hearing
  5. discharge, excessive tearing
  6. dry mouth
  7. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  8. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  9. lack or loss of strength
  10. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  11. sensation of spinning
  12. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, feet
  13. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
