Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. clay-colored stools
  6. cold sweats
  7. confusion about identity, place, and time false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  8. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  9. decreased urination
  10. deep or fast breathing with dizziness
  11. depression
  12. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  13. difficulty with speaking
  14. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  15. double vision
  16. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  17. feeling of warmth
  18. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
  19. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  20. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  21. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  22. hives or welts
  23. hostility
  24. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  25. inability to speak
  26. irritability
  27. labored breathing, especially at night
  28. loss of balance control
  29. loss of consciousness
  30. lower back or side pain
  31. mood or mental changes
  32. muscle spasm, trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  33. nightmares
  34. numbness of the feet, hands, and around mouth
  35. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  36. painful or difficult urination
  37. panic
  38. perspiration
  39. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  40. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  41. restlessness
  42. seizures
  43. slurred speech
  44. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  45. stiffness of the limbs
  46. stomach pain
  47. sweating
  48. swelling of the face, ankles, legs, or hands
  49. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands on side of face or neck
  50. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  51. trouble sleeping
  52. twisting movements of the body uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  53. unexplained fainting
  54. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Chest pain or tightness
  2. clumsiness
  3. cold, clammy skin
  4. confusion
  5. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  6. decreased urine output
  7. dilated neck veins
  8. extreme tiredness or weakness
  9. fainting
  10. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  11. fast, weak pulse
  12. increased or excessive unconscious or jerking movements
  13. irregular breathing
  14. lightheadedness
  15. loss of consciousness
  16. low body temperature
  17. muscle stiffness, weakness, or tightness
  18. restlessness
  19. seeing things that are not there
  20. seizures
  21. severe sleepiness
  22. shivering
  23. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  24. troubled breathing
  25. weak or feeble pulse
  26. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Incidence not known

  1. Bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  2. black tongue
  3. decreased interest in sexual ability or desire
  4. difficulty having a bowel movement
  5. enlargement of the breast
  6. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  7. heartburn
  8. increase in sexual ability or desire
  9. increased sensitivity of the eyes or skin to light
  10. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  11. peculiar taste
  12. severe sunburn
  13. small red or purple spots on the skin
  14. swelling of the testicles
  15. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  16. waking to urinate at night

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
