Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Decreased appetite
  2. swelling of the feet or lower legs

Rare

  1. Pain, numbness, or tingling of the hands, arms, legs, or feet
  2. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  3. stomach pain
  4. tingling, burning, or prickly sensations

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bone pain
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. clay-colored stools
  7. cough
  8. dark urine
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty swallowing
  11. dizziness
  12. fast heartbeat
  13. fever
  14. general tiredness and weakness
  15. headache
  16. hives, itching, skin rash
  17. joint or muscle pain
  18. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  19. loss of appetite
  20. lower back or side pain
  21. muscle cramps, spasms, pain, or stiffness
  22. nausea
  23. painful or difficult urination
  24. pale skin
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  27. red, irritated eyes
  28. seizures
  29. sore throat
  30. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  31. stomach pain, continuing
  32. swollen glands
  33. tightness in the chest
  34. trouble breathing
  35. troubled breathing with exertion
  36. unpleasant breath odor
  37. unusual bleeding or bruising
  38. unusual tiredness or weakness
  39. vomiting
  40. vomiting of blood
  41. yellow eyes and skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Chest pain
  2. cough
  3. decrease in weight
  4. dizziness or lightheadedness
  5. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  6. headache
  7. pain in the ankles or knees
  8. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  9. sensation of spinning
  10. trouble sleeping

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Difficulty with moving
  2. pain in the joints
