Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. diarrhea
  6. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  7. trembling or shaking in the hands
  8. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  9. unusual bleeding or bruising
  10. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  11. weight loss

Less common

  1. Chest tightness
  2. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  3. increase blood pressure
  4. lower back or side pain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. bloated or full feeling
  3. blurred or loss of vision
  4. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  5. disturbed color perception
  6. dizziness
  7. double vision
  8. dry mouth
  9. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  10. halos around lights
  11. headache
  12. heartburn
  13. heaviness in the limbs
  14. indigestion
  15. leg cramps
  16. loss of appetite
  17. memory loss
  18. menstrual changes
  19. nausea
  20. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  21. passing gas
  22. stomach discomfort, upset or pain
  23. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area
  24. tunnel vision
  25. unsteady walk
  26. vomiting

Less common

  1. Change in taste
  2. constipation
  3. joint or muscle pain
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. loss of taste
  6. pressure in the stomach
  7. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  8. swelling of the stomach area
