Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  2. twitching, twisting, uncontrolled repetitive movements of tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs

Less common

  1. Actions that are out of control
  2. anxiety
  3. attack, assault, force
  4. confusion
  5. confusion as to time, place, or person
  6. delusions of persecution, mistrust, suspiciousness, or combativeness
  7. dry mouth
  8. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  9. hyperventilation
  10. increased sexual urges
  11. irregular heartbeats
  12. irritability
  13. restlessness
  14. shaking
  15. shortness of breath
  16. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  17. trouble sleeping
  18. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. nausea

Less common

  1. Decreased appetite
  2. diarrhea
  3. dizziness
  4. rash
