Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. cough producing mucus
  5. difficulty with breathing
  6. ear congestion
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. loss of voice
  10. runny nose
  11. sneezing
  12. sore throat
  13. stuffy nose
  14. tightness in the chest
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. burning while urinating burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. chest pain
  6. congestion
  7. diarrhea
  8. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  9. dizziness
  10. fainting
  11. fast, slow, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  12. frequent urge to urinate
  13. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  14. hoarseness
  15. increased sputum
  16. joint pain
  17. loss of appetite
  18. lower back or side pain
  19. muscle aches and pains
  20. nausea
  21. nervousness
  22. noisy breathing
  23. pain
  24. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  25. pounding in the ears
  26. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  27. shivering
  28. sweating
  29. swelling
  30. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  31. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  32. trouble sleeping
  33. trouble swallowing
  34. voice changes
  35. vomiting

Rare

  1. Skin rash or hives
  2. swelling of the face, lips, eyelids, mouth, or throat

Incidence not known

  1. Chest discomfort
  2. decrease in the frequency of urination
  3. decrease in urine volume
  4. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  5. itching skin
  6. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  7. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  8. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  9. redness of the skin
  10. welts

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  3. belching
  4. change in taste
  5. diarrhea
  6. difficulty with moving
  7. dry mouth
  8. heartburn
  9. indigestion
  10. muscle pain or stiffness
  11. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  12. voice changes

Incidence not known

  1. Bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  2. blindness
  3. change in near or distance vision
  4. decreased vision
  5. difficulty in focusing eyes
  6. dry throat
  7. eye pain
  8. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  9. itching, redness, tearing, or other sign of eye irritation not present before use of this medicine or becoming worse during use
  10. lack or loss of strength
  11. noisy breathing
  12. redness of the white part of the eyes or inside of the eyelids
  13. swelling of the eye
  14. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  15. tearing

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
