Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. body aches or pain
  3. chest tightness
  4. chills
  5. clay colored stools
  6. confusion
  7. cough
  8. cough producing mucus
  9. dark urine
  10. decreased appetite
  11. difficulty with breathing
  12. dizziness
  13. ear congestion
  14. fainting
  15. fast heartbeat
  16. fever
  17. headache
  18. itching or skin rash
  19. lightheadedness
  20. loss of appetite
  21. loss of voice
  22. lower back or side pain
  23. nausea and vomiting
  24. pain
  25. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  26. painful or difficult urination
  27. pale skin
  28. rapid, shallow breathing
  29. sneezing
  30. sore throat
  31. stomach cramps, pain, or tenderness
  32. stuffy or runny nose
  33. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  34. trouble breathing
  35. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  36. unusual bleeding or bruising
  37. unusual tiredness or weakness
  38. watery or bloody diarrhea
  39. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  4. frequent urge to urinate
  5. lower back or side pain

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. chest pain
  3. cracks in the skin
  4. difficulty with swallowing
  5. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  6. heartburn
  7. hives
  8. indigestion
  9. joint or muscle pain
  10. loss of heat from the body
  11. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  12. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  13. red, irritated eyes
  14. red, swollen skin
  15. scaly skin
  16. severe abdominal or stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  17. thickening of bronchial secretions
  18. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. decreased appetite
  3. difficulty with moving
  4. muscle pain or stiffness
  5. night sweats
  6. pain in the joints
  7. rapid weight gain
  8. tingling of the hands or feet
  9. trouble sleeping
  10. unusual weight gain or loss
