Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

1. Difficulty with speaking or swallowing
2. inability to move the eyes
3. loss of balance control
4. mask-like face
5. muscle spasms, especially of the neck and back
6. restlessness or need to keep moving (severe)
7. shuffling walk
8. stiffness of the arms and legs
9. trembling and shaking of the fingers and hands
10. twisting movements of the body
11. weakness of the arms and legs

Less common

1. Decreased thirst
2. difficulty in urination
3. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
4. hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there)
5. lip smacking or puckering
6. puffing of the cheeks
7. rapid or worm-like movements of the tongue
8. skin rash
9. uncontrolled chewing movements
10. uncontrolled movements of the arms and legs

Rare

1. Confusion
2. convulsions (seizures)
3. difficult or fast breathing
4. fast heartbeat or irregular pulse
5. fever (high)
6. hot, dry skin, or lack of sweating
7. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
8. increased sweating
9. loss of bladder control
10. muscle stiffness (severe)
11. muscle weakness
12. sore throat and fever
13. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
14. unusual bleeding or bruising
15. unusual facial expressions or body positions
16. unusual tiredness or weakness
17. unusually pale skin
18. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

1. Continuing nausea or vomiting
2. increase in the frequency of seizures
3. loss of appetite
4. swelling of the face
5. tiredness and weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

1. Difficulty with breathing (severe)
2. dizziness (severe)
3. drowsiness (severe)
4. muscle trembling, jerking, stiffness, or uncontrolled movements (severe)
5. unusual tiredness or weakness (severe)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Blurred vision
2. changes in menstrual period
3. constipation
4. dryness of the mouth
5. swelling or pain in the breasts (in females)
6. unusual secretion of milk
7. weight gain

Less common

1. Decreased sexual ability
2. drowsiness
3. increased sensitivity of the skin to sun (skin rash, itching, redness or other discoloration of skin, or severe sunburn)
4. nausea or vomiting
