Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Itching
  2. skin rash

Less common

  1. Aching of joints and muscles
  2. difficulty in swallowing
  3. nausea or vomiting
  4. pale skin
  5. redness, blistering, peeling, or loosening of skin
  6. skin rash
  7. sore throat and fever
  8. stomach pain, severe
  9. unusual bleeding or bruising
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness
  11. yellow eyes or skin

Rare

  1. Blood in urine
  2. dark or amber urine
  3. irregular or slow heartbeat
  4. temporary loss of hearing (with kidney disease and high doses)
  5. lower back pain
  6. pain or burning while urinating
  7. pale stools
  8. recurrent fainting
  9. severe stomach pain
  10. swelling of front part of neck

More common

  1. Increased sensitivity to sunlight

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramping and discomfort
  2. diarrhea
  3. headache
  4. loss of appetite
  5. nausea or vomiting

Less common

  1. Sore mouth or tongue
