Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. decreased urination
  4. diarrhea
  5. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  6. dizziness
  7. dry mouth
  8. fainting
  9. fast heartbeat
  10. fever
  11. inability to speak
  12. irritability
  13. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  14. lightheadedness
  15. loss of appetite
  16. muscle twitching
  17. nausea
  18. rapid breathing
  19. restlessness
  20. seizures
  21. severe or sudden headache
  22. slurred speech
  23. stomach pain
  24. sunken eyes
  25. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  26. temporary blindness
  27. thirst
  28. unusual tiredness or weakness
  29. weakness
  30. weakness in the arm and/or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
  31. wrinkled skin

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. bluish lips or skin
  5. chest tightness
  6. collapse or shock-like state
  7. cough
  8. difficulty swallowing
  9. hives
  10. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  11. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  12. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  13. skin rash
  14. slow breathing
  15. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in neck, armpit, or groin
  16. unusual bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Loss of appetite
  2. pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
  3. sleepiness
