Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry, stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. blurred vision
  5. chills
  6. cloudy urine
  7. coma
  8. confusion
  9. convulsions
  10. cough or hoarseness
  11. decrease or increase in the amount of urine
  12. difficult or labored breathing
  13. dizziness
  14. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  15. dry mouth
  16. fainting or lightheadedness
  17. fast or irregular heartbeat
  18. fever
  19. headache
  20. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  21. increased thirst
  22. irregular heartbeat
  23. loss of appetite
  24. lower back or side pain
  25. muscle pain or cramps
  26. nausea or vomiting
  27. noisy breathing
  28. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  29. painful or difficult urination
  30. pale skin
  31. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  32. redness of the skin
  33. sore throat
  34. stomach pain
  35. sweating
  36. swelling of the face, hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  37. tightness in the chest
  38. troubled breathing with exertion
  39. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  40. unusual bleeding or bruising
  41. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  4. change in color vision
  5. change in the ability to see colors, especially blue or yellow
  6. chest pain
  7. difficulty seeing at night
  8. drooping upper eyelids
  9. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  10. muscle or joint pain
  11. nerve pain
  12. pain in the arms or legs
  13. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  14. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Incidence not known

  1. Yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
