Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Stomach cramps or pain

Less common

  1. Back or leg pains
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, loosening of skin
  4. bloody or black, tarry stools
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. blurred or loss of vision
  7. burning feeling in chest or stomach
  8. burning while urinating
  9. clay-colored stools
  10. constipation
  11. cough or hoarseness
  12. cracks in the skin
  13. dark-colored urine
  14. diarrhea
  15. difficult or painful urination
  16. difficulty breathing
  17. difficulty swallowing
  18. disturbed color perception
  19. dizziness
  20. double vision
  21. facial swelling
  22. fast heartbeat
  23. feeling of warmth
  24. fever with or without chills
  25. flu-like symptoms
  26. general body swelling
  27. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  28. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  29. halos around lights
  30. headache
  31. hives
  32. increased blood pressure
  33. increased thirst
  34. indigestion
  35. itching
  36. joint or muscle pain
  37. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, sex organs
  38. light-colored stools
  39. liver function abnormalities
  40. loss of appetite
  41. loss of heat from the body
  42. lower back or side pain
  43. muscle aches, pains, or weakness
  44. nausea or vomiting
  45. night blindness
  46. noisy breathing
  47. nosebleeds
  48. overbright appearance of lights
  49. pale skin
  50. pinpoint red spots on skin
  51. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue
  52. red, irritated eyes
  53. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  54. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  55. red, swollen skin
  56. scaly skin
  57. severe or continuing stomach pain
  58. shortness of breath
  59. skin rash
  60. sores, ulcers, or white spots in mouth or on lips
  61. sore throat
  62. stomach upset
  63. swelling of face, fingers, feet or lower legs
  64. swollen lymph nodes
  65. tenderness in stomach area
  66. tightness in chest
  67. troubled breathing
  68. tunnel vision
  69. unpleasant breath odor
  70. unusual bleeding or bruising
  71. unusual tiredness or weakness
  72. upper right abdominal pain
  73. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  74. weight gain
  75. wheezing
  76. yellow eyes or skin

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Change in consciousness
  2. confusion about identity, place, and time
  3. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in ears
  4. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  5. deep or fast breathing with dizziness
  6. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  7. hearing loss
  8. loss of consciousness
  9. numbness of feet, hands, and around mouth
  10. severe sleepiness
  11. sweating

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. heartburn
  4. indigestion
  5. stomach discomfort or upset

Less common

  1. Bloated, full feeling
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. discouragement
  4. dry mucous membranes
  5. excess air or gas in stomach or intestines
  6. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  7. feeling sad or empty
  8. increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight
  9. irritability
  10. lack or loss of strength
  11. lightheadedness
  12. loss of interest or pleasure
  13. mood or mental changes
  14. nervousness
  15. passing gas
  16. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  17. sensation of spinning
  18. severe sunburn
  19. sleeplessness
  20. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  21. tiredness
  22. trouble concentrating
  23. trouble sleeping
  24. unable to sleep
  25. weight loss
