Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Clumsiness or unsteadiness
  2. confusion
  3. fainting
  4. mental depression
  5. problems in urinating
  6. ringing or buzzing in the ears
  7. skin rash, hives, or itching occurring without other symptoms of an allergic reaction listed above
  8. unusual thoughts or dreams
  9. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Convulsions (seizures)
  2. drowsiness (severe)
  3. dry, hot, flushed skin
  4. fast or irregular heartbeat
  5. hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  6. increase or decrease in body temperature
  7. troubled breathing
  8. unexplained muscle stiffness
  9. unusual nervousness or restlessness (severe)
  10. vomiting (occurring together with other symptoms of overdose)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. dizziness, drowsiness, or lightheadedness
  3. dryness of the mouth

Less common or rare

  1. Bloated feeling or gas, indigestion, nausea or vomiting, or stomach cramps or pain
  2. constipation
  3. diarrhea
  4. excitement or nervousness
  5. frequent urination
  6. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  7. headache
  8. muscle twitching
  9. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in hands or feet
  10. pounding heartbeat
  11. problems in speaking
  12. trembling
  13. trouble sleeping
  14. unpleasant taste or other taste changes
  15. unusual muscle weakness
  16. unusual tiredness

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.

Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
