Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. cough
  3. cramps
  4. difficulty with swallowing
  5. dizziness
  6. fast heartbeat
  7. heavy bleeding
  8. hives, itching, or skin rash
  9. itching of the vagina or genital area
  10. normal menstrual bleeding occurring earlier, possibly lasting longer than expected
  11. pain during sexual intercourse
  12. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  13. rapid weight gain
  14. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  15. tightness in the chest
  16. tingling of the hands or feet
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness
  18. unusual weight gain or loss

Incidence not known

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. backache
  3. belching
  4. change in vaginal discharge
  5. clear or bloody discharge from the nipple
  6. confusion
  7. decrease in the amount of urine
  8. difficulty with speaking
  9. dimpling of the breast skin
  10. double vision
  11. headache
  12. heartburn
  13. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  14. inability to speak
  15. indigestion
  16. inverted nipple
  17. loss of appetite
  18. lump in the breast or under the arm
  19. noisy, rattling breathing
  20. pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis
  21. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  22. persistent crusting or scaling of the nipple
  23. redness or swelling of the breast
  24. slow speech
  25. sore on the skin of the breast that does not heal
  26. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  27. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area
  28. swelling of the fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  29. troubled breathing at rest
  30. vaginal bleeding

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  3. fear or nervousness
  4. heartburn
  5. increased clear or white vaginal discharge
  6. indigestion
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. loss of bladder control
  9. nausea
  10. passing gas
  11. runny nose
  12. sneezing
  13. stuffy nose
  14. vomiting

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. increased appetite

Incidence not known

  1. Breast pain, swelling, or tenderness
  2. discouragement
  3. enlarged breasts
  4. feeling sad or empty
  5. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  6. irritability
  7. lack of appetite
  8. loss of interest or pleasure
  9. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  10. tiredness
  11. trouble concentrating
  12. trouble sleeping
