Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

1. Fast or irregular heartbeat
2. fever

Less common

1. Abnormal bleeding
2. bloody or black tarry stools
3. bruises or red spots on the skin
4. fainting
5. nausea, heartburn, or indigestion (severe or continuing)
6. nosebleeds
7. stiff neck
8. stomach pain, cramping, or burning (severe)
9. swelling of the tongue
10. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Incidence not known

1. Bleeding gums
2. bleeding tendency
3. blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
4. blood in the urine or stools
5. blurred vision
6. chest pain
7. chills
8. clay-colored stools
9. confusion
10. cough or hoarseness
11. coughing up blood
12. dark urine
13. diarrhea
14. difficulty with breathing
15. drowsiness
16. fever with or without chills
17. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
18. headache, sudden and severe
19. inability to speak
20. itching of the eyes
21. itching of the skin
22. joint or muscle pain
23. light-colored stools
24. loss of appetite
25. loss of consciousness
26. lower back or side pain
27. nausea and vomiting
28. painful or difficult urination
29. pinpoint red spots on the skin
30. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
31. red, irritated eyes
32. seizures
33. skin rash
34. slurred speech
35. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
36. stomach pain
37. swollen glands
38. temporary blindness
39. unpleasant breath odor
40. unusual bleeding or bruising
41. unusual tiredness or weakness
42. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
43. weakness of part of the body
44. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

1. Dizziness or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Back pain
2. dizziness
3. gas
4. headache
5. increased cough
6. pain or stiffness in the muscles
7. pounding heartbeat
8. runny or stuffy nose
9. sore throat
10. swelling of the arms or legs

Less common

1. Bone pain
2. burning feeling in the throat or chest
3. difficulty with swallowing
4. hives
5. pain or stiffness in the joints
6. ringing or buzzing in the ears
7. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs

Incidence not known

1. Bruising
2. feeling of warmth
3. pain
4. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
