Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. indigestion
  3. loss of appetite
  4. nausea or vomiting
  5. passing gas
  6. stomach pain, fullness, or discomfort

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. chest pain
  3. chills
  4. cough or hoarseness
  5. fever
  6. itching
  7. joint or muscle pain
  8. lower back or side pain
  9. painful or difficult urination
  10. red irritated eyes
  11. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  12. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  13. swollen glands
  14. trouble breathing
  15. unusual bleeding or bruising
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Bleeding under the skin
  2. blurred vision
  3. change in consciousness
  4. confusion
  5. confusion as to time, place, or person
  6. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  7. difficult or labored breathing
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying position
  9. extremely high fever or body temperature
  10. hallucinations
  11. irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing
  12. fast, weak heartbeat
  13. headache
  14. hearing loss
  15. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  16. loss of consciousness
  17. muscle cramps
  18. pale, clammy skin
  19. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  20. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  21. stomach pain
  22. sweating
  23. thirst
  24. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  25. trouble sleeping
  26. unusual bleeding or bruising
  27. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  28. unusual tiredness or weakness
  29. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Dizziness
  2. drowsiness
