Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chest tightness
  2. cold arms or legs
  3. trouble breathing

Less common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. chills
  3. cold sweats
  4. confusion
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from lying or sitting position
  6. leg pain
  7. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  8. slow or irregular heartbeat
  9. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blood in urine or stools
  5. blurred vision
  6. cool, pale skin
  7. depression
  8. fast heartbeat
  9. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  10. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  11. fever
  12. general feeling of discomfort, illness, or weakness
  13. headache
  14. increased hunger
  15. nausea
  16. nervousness
  17. nightmares
  18. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  19. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  20. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  21. seizures
  22. severe mood or mental changes
  23. shakiness
  24. skin irritation or rash, including rash that looks like psoriasis
  25. slurred speech
  26. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  27. unusual behavior
  28. unusual bleeding or bruising

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. decreased urination
  3. dry mouth
  4. increase in heart rate
  5. muscle cramps or pain
  6. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  7. rapid breathing
  8. seizures
  9. sunken eyes
  10. sweating
  11. thirst
  12. trembling
  13. weakness and heaviness of the legs
  14. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Discouragement
  2. feeling sad or empty
  3. irritability
  4. lack of appetite
  5. loss of interest or pleasure
  6. tiredness
  7. trouble concentrating
  8. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  3. nausea
  4. sensation of spinning
  5. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness

Incidence not known

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. disturbed color perception
  3. double vision
  4. halos around lights
  5. headache
  6. inability to have or keep an erection
  7. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  8. loss of vision
  9. loss or thinning of the hair
  10. night blindness
  11. overbright appearance of lights
  12. pain of the penis on erection
  13. tunnel vision
