Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Bloating
  2. blood in the urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  5. chills
  6. clay-colored stools
  7. constipation
  8. dark urine
  9. decreased appetite
  10. diarrhea
  11. dizziness or lightheadedness
  12. dry mouth
  13. fainting
  14. fast heartbeat
  15. fast, shallow breathing
  16. fever
  17. flushed, dry skin
  18. fruit-like breath odor
  19. gaseous abdominal or stomach pain
  20. general feeling of discomfort
  21. headache
  22. hives, itching, or skin rash
  23. increased hunger
  24. increased thirst
  25. increased urination
  26. indigestion
  27. irregular heartbeat
  28. loss of appetite
  29. loss of consciousness
  30. muscle pain or cramping
  31. nausea
  32. pain in the groin or genitals
  33. pain in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  34. recurrent fever
  35. severe nausea or vomiting
  36. sharp back pain just below the ribs
  37. sleepiness
  38. slow or irregular heartbeat
  39. stomach discomfort or fullness
  40. sweating
  41. swelling
  42. trouble breathing
  43. unexplained weight loss
  44. unpleasant breath odor
  45. unusual tiredness or weakness
  46. vomiting
  47. vomiting of blood
  48. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. cough, increased
  3. discouragement
  4. extra body fat
  5. feeling sad or empty
  6. irritability
  7. loss of interest or pleasure
  8. trouble concentrating
  9. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  2. difficulty with moving
  3. muscle stiffness
  4. pain
  5. pain in the joints
  6. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  7. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Incidence not known

  1. Hair loss or thinning of the hair
  2. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin
