Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. chest pain
  3. discharge from the eye
  4. eye irritation
  5. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  6. itching, redness, or swelling of the skin
  7. neck pain or rigid neck
  8. redness of the inner lining of the eyelid
  9. skin rash
  10. shortness of breath
  11. tightness in the throat

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramping or pain
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. blood in the stools
  4. bringing back up of food
  5. chest pain, severe
  6. cool, pale skin
  7. diarrhea
  8. difficulty with swallowing
  9. earache
  10. fainting
  11. fever
  12. heartburn, repeated
  13. increased sweating
  14. loss of appetite
  15. loss of vision
  16. rapid breathing
  17. tightness in the chest
  18. weight loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning, numbness, prickly, or tingling feeling
  2. dizziness
  3. dry mouth
  4. headache
  5. nausea
  6. sleepiness

Less common

  1. Aching, fullness, or tension in the sinuses
  2. anxious feeling
  3. back pain
  4. belching
  5. change in sense of taste
  6. chills
  7. cough producing mucus
  8. decreased sensitivity to touch
  9. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  10. feeling of spinning
  11. feeling of warmth or heat
  12. flushing or redness of the skin
  13. increased sense of hearing
  14. indigestion
  15. lack or loss of strength
  16. muscle aches or weakness
  17. nosebleed
  18. painful menstrual period
  19. quivering or trembling
  20. restlessness
  21. runny or stuffy nose
  22. sore throat
  23. trouble sleeping
  24. vomiting

Rare

  1. Abnormal increase in reflexes
  2. abnormally increased feeling of mental and physical well-being
  3. buzzing or ringing in the ears
  4. change in dreams or nightmares
  5. change in sense of smell
  6. change in sense of touch
  7. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  8. continuous, uncontrolled, back-and-forth or rolling eye movements
  9. cough
  10. difficulty in concentrating
  11. double vision
  12. drooling
  13. dry eyes
  14. dry throat
  15. feeling of pins and needles
  16. hoarseness
  17. increased sensitivity to sunlight
  18. increased thirst
  19. loss of voice
  20. mental depression
  21. muscle stiffness
  22. nervousness
  23. pain, redness, swelling, or warmth in the joints
  24. sneezing
  25. stabbing pain
