Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. confusion
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. drowsiness
  6. fever or chills
  7. mental depression
  8. nausea and vomiting
  9. shortness of breath
  10. sores in the mouth and on lips
  11. tingling of the hands or feet
  12. unusual decrease in urination
  13. unusual tiredness or weakness
  14. weight gain of 5 to 10 pounds or more

Less common

  1. Bloating and stomach pain
  2. blurred or double vision
  3. faintness
  4. fast or irregular heartbeat
  5. loss of taste
  6. rapid breathing
  7. redness, swelling, and soreness of the tongue
  8. trouble with speaking
  9. yellow eyes and skin

Rare

  1. Changes in menstrual periods
  2. clumsiness
  3. coldness
  4. convulsions (seizures)
  5. listlessness
  6. muscle aches
  7. pain or redness at injection site
  8. sudden inability to move
  9. swelling in the front of the neck
  10. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  11. weakness

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blisters on the skin
  3. blood in the urine
  4. bloody vomit
  5. chest pain
  6. cough or hoarseness
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. painful or difficult urination
  9. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  10. stomach pain (severe)
  11. unusual bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Dry skin
  2. loss of appetite
  3. skin rash or redness with burning or itching, followed by peeling
  4. unusual feeling of discomfort or illness

Less common

  1. Constipation
  2. headache
  3. joint pain
  4. muscle pain
