Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. body aches or pain
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. chest tightness
  5. chills
  6. cough
  7. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  8. ear congestion
  9. fever
  10. frequent urge to urinate
  11. headache
  12. hoarseness or other voice changes
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  15. sneezing
  16. sore throat
  17. stuffy or runny nose
  18. sweating
  19. trouble breathing
  20. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blindness
  3. blue or pale skin
  4. bone fractures
  5. confusion
  6. dark urine
  7. decreased vision
  8. difficulty with moving
  9. dizziness
  10. eye pain
  11. fainting
  12. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  13. hoarseness
  14. increased thirst
  15. increased urination
  16. itching, skin rash
  17. indigestion
  18. light-colored stools
  19. loss of appetite
  20. loss of strength or energy
  21. muscle cramps, pain, spasms, or stiffness
  22. nausea
  23. nervousness
  24. pain in the arms or legs
  25. pounding in the ears
  26. seizures
  27. slow or fast heartbeat
  28. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  29. stomach pain
  30. trouble thinking
  31. unpleasant breath odor
  32. unusual bleeding or bruising
  33. vomiting
  34. vomiting of blood
  35. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. decreased urine output
  3. dilated neck veins
  4. diarrhea
  5. irregular breathing
  6. irregular heartbeat
  7. joint pain
  8. numbness or tingling in the fingers, face, or feet
  9. red, irritated eyes
  10. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  11. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  12. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site

Incidence not known

  1. Hair loss or thinning of the hair
