Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Fever
  2. headache
  3. muscle aches
  4. sore throat
  5. stuffy or runny nose
  6. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. body aches or pain
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. cough
  7. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  8. difficulty in breathing
  9. dry throat
  10. ear congestion
  11. fainting
  12. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  13. frequent urge to urinate
  14. hoarseness
  15. loss of voice
  16. lower back or side pain
  17. sneezing
  18. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  19. tightness in the chest
  20. trouble in swallowing
  21. voice changes

Rare

  1. Chest discomfort
  2. difficulty with moving
  3. dilated neck veins
  4. dry mouth
  5. extreme tiredness or weakness
  6. flushed, dry skin
  7. fruit-like breath odor
  8. increased hunger
  9. increased thirst
  10. loss of consciousness
  11. muscle pain or stiffness
  12. nausea
  13. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  14. slow or irregular heartbeat
  15. stomachache
  16. sweating
  17. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  18. unexplained weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Blindness
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning while urinating
  4. decrease in the frequency of urination
  5. decrease in urine volume
  6. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  7. dizziness
  8. eye pain
  9. hives, itching, skin rash
  10. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  11. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  12. tearing
  13. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Arm, neck, or leg pain
  2. back pain
  3. belching
  4. bruise
  5. depression
  6. diarrhea
  7. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  8. heartburn
  9. indigestion
  10. lightheadedness
  11. muscle cramps
  12. sensation of spinning
  13. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  14. toothache
  15. upper stomach pain
