Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Cough
  2. diarrhea
  3. fever
  4. headache
  5. nausea
  6. numbness or tingling of the face, feet, or hands
  7. pain in the joints
  8. pain in the muscles
  9. skin rash
  10. sore throat
  11. stomach pain
  12. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  13. unusual feeling of discomfort or illness
  14. unusual tiredness or weakness
  15. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloating
  3. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. constipation
  7. dark urine
  8. decreased appetite
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty with swallowing
  11. dizziness
  12. fast heartbeat
  13. fast, shallow breathing
  14. feeling of fullness
  15. general feeling of discomfort
  16. hives or welts, itching
  17. indigestion
  18. light-colored stools
  19. loss of appetite
  20. loss of bladder control
  21. muscle cramping
  22. muscle spasm or jerking of the arms and legs
  23. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  24. pale skin
  25. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  26. red, irritated eyes
  27. redness of the skin
  28. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  29. seizures
  30. sleepiness
  31. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  32. sudden loss of consciousness
  33. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  34. tightness in the chest
  35. troubled breathing with exertion
  36. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  37. unusual bleeding or bruising
  38. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  39. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  40. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  3. fear or nervousness
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. lightheadedness
  6. sensation of spinning
  7. severe and throbbing headache
  8. stomach upset
  9. tenderness in the stomach area
  10. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Abnormal breathing sounds
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. dry mouth
  5. flushed, dry skin
  6. fruit-like breath odor
  7. gaining weight around your neck, upper back, breast, face, or waist
  8. hair loss
  9. increased hunger
  10. increased thirst
  11. increased urination
  12. muscle weakness
  13. sweating
  14. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  15. thinning of the hair
  16. unexplained weight loss
